I bought a 76 two-door maverick thinking ok here is a little 6 cylinder I can take out and drop a 302 in. well I looked at the title better and it shows the original motor in the car was a 302 which is what came in the 1976 stallion. it has been painted so I don't know if the color scheme would have matched the original. how do I know if it is a true stallion of not?
Welcome to the board! Just because it had a 302 doesn't mean it was a Stallion. The Stallion was an appearance package only. The majority of all Mavericks and Comets were 6 cylinders - Stallions and Grabbers included. For years 71+ you could order a V8 in any Maverick/Comet model, but a six was standard. The 5th letter in the VIN will be a 'F' if it was a factory 302. Here is more info on Stallions: http://www.76stallion.com/mav%20details.pdf http://membre.oricom.ca/plemire/ http://www.76stallion.com/ http://www.maverick.to/ford_maverick_stallion.php http://membre.oricom.ca/plemire/ Also do a search on this board for more pics/details.
from Atlantic Canada! Basically look for all the chrome trim to be painted satin black, including the windshield wiper arms. That would be a start... Any pictures of it now?
