Another brother arrived this week, it's a 71 comet gt, 302 with alloy heads, c4 trans and 9inch true trac rear with 3.88 gears, runs good, it's a clean canvas with a little talc needed.
Thanks John, it looks good in a photo, but could do with a respray. It runs pretty good, does a 12.80 1/4. But it's not Eileen11!(now forged 347 10.6:1) runs an early 12 sec but I think it will make a late 11 with some slicks and better gearing. That's the car close to my heart!!
You can't see the paint closely enough in the photo. The only think that looks wrong is the mirrors. I assume Eileen is the maverick next to the comet? Yes I would think with a decently built 347 mid elevens would be fairly easy with traction. I have a 347 in my maverick and I will be disappointed if it doesn't perform solidly in the 11's.
It's an honest gt, which makes it a good platform. And yes Eileen is the mav, the 347 is fairly strong, built well with quite a few goodies 595' lift trickflow cam and revs nicely to 6800rpm, I would prefer lower gears than 3.7 and my funnel web manifold but can't bring myself to cut a hole in the hood so the torker2 will have to do at the moment. Is your 347 going? What gears and set up do you run:Handshake
Mine is running in the car with 5 speed trans and 9" rear with 3.89 gears. I can't drive it yet though because the rest of the car is not complete. I have a much smaller hyd roller cam but it still should perform well. I'm using a victor jr manifold.
Thanks Dave, I got the comet from Melbourne here in oz, the original manual says N DEL MAR. Maybe someone on here knows of it....vin is 1k31f526031 e built 11-30-70. Eileen loves OZ as much as I love her!!
Mmm manual gearbox! I purchased a top loader about a year ago, but haven't installed it yet because its a little hard to get parts over here, I got a 1966 falcon pedal box hoping it might work but haven't gone any further. I'm sure your car will be fun when it's all done
