Heres a few progress pics I took tonight. We fixed the right rear quarter last night, cut out the bad and welded in nice new metal, the bondo was from a prior owner who filled in a dent.Started stripping all the paint, gotta buy more Aircraft Stripper, only had 1/3 of a gallon to start with, but it got alot done. All the trim is off of it now as well as all the glass.Rearend is all setup and all painted, etc and ready to go back in with all new brakes and everything.Got alot of other crap sandblasted and ready to paint.Patched the battery area that was rotted away.Ordered alot of crap, carpet, door handles, window handles, camshaft, headlights, and much more.Anyways, heres some pics.
Looks great I am not real sure, but for me its easier to just open the door and climb in going through the front windshield can be a pain in the A$$ after a while
Boy, does that ever bring back memories. My husband laughed at me when I stood through the windshield opening to sand the roof on our car. I can't wait to show him that one picture and say, " Look familiar?" Looking good. You are going about it the right way.
And for those of you that haven`t seen my post about the rearend...yes that is a cover on the differential....its a 8.8" Mustang "fox body" rear axle modified to fit my car.The diff cover is off a newer Crown Vic,Its aluminum and I just polished it real nice. The complete rearend with a posi,3.55 gears, new brakes,5-lug swap, and all was under $300 total, actually,I sold the old rearend for $80 so I have a little over $200 in the whole thing!
And excuse the Krylon can in the rearend pics, that is POR-15 on the entire housing/backing plates, yes I wire wheeled everything first. The Krylon is the clear coat I put on the drums.
