As some me know I haven't been on for a while. After 2 years and almost 10,000 dollars I got Frankin mav on the road and after some test driving and going to The Cruise To Colby I had about 200 miles on my fresh motor and thought it was time to retorque the heads and I was down to the last bolt one of the short one in the front and it stripped, I closed the hood an didn't touch it for almost a year and a half. My forum name Doncraft comes from a hobby craft scroll saw business and so I lost myself in that. I won 3 awards for one piece at the state fair (first pic) I got this crazy idea, why not do car stuff, so here is a first shot, all I,m looking for is some feed back and my move it to the for sale page later. last week I got a head stud to hold and put a nut on it and after about 5 minutes it started right up and sounded pretty good, now I have to change the tranny (don't like that one) and it will be on the road again weather permitting. Good to be back Don
The first picture is amazing! The second one is a drawing of what you're going to make? And will you do requests or only your choice of art? Also, like others, curious on price you will charge.
They are both cut with a scroll saw no lazer no cnc the first was a pattern I got from a friend and the mav was from a photo that I sent to another friend who turns them into cutable patterns so any photo can be cut from wood with any saying or maybe a clock or anything else you can think of. I cut them from Baltic Birch plywood and stack cut three at a time. Coop good to hear from you Mike is doing great, his friend Gerald died and left him all his Mav-Com stuff and he has added a room to his shop and he is trying to get his rear end business off the ground. Patty's doing awesome like always such a sweet lady, anyway hope your doing well. Don
Hi Don, thats some amazing work Miss seeing you guys up there, especially at Cruizen Colby time and going to the races that was the best time I have ever had up there.
That's truly fantastic work. I knew a guy who did that (he moved away) and it truly is an art. His problem is he couldn't charge enough at craft shows for the amount of time he spent on each piece. It was a labor if love for him. How much are you thinking of charging for something like that?
Yup you got it right John, I stack cut these 3 at a time and if I charge 100 each for them I'd be making way less than minimum wage and I'd throw the wood and finish in for free, I just really like doing it and TV is so mind less.
