Unless you’re going to be racing Fords Duraspark distributor that came with your 1979 302 will be just fine and you can get red caps for them....

I don’t recommend “beating” on the hood, but it’s yours do as you wish.

If you’re going to drive it on the street I’d say AOD, but for best results I suggest 3 pedals and a T5.
