Reading up on some of the other threads, peel & seal doesn't smell in the heat like roofing tar or does it go away after a while?

Peel n Seal is not available by me. Have a neighbor that works for a roofing company. He checked and can get it in a 3 ft width as well.

Do you guys using the peel and seal have a rough idea on how much that amount of material weighs? Less than 3-4 lbs?
I have had the peel and seal in my car almost 2 years in 100+ weather,parked in the sun and I have no smell and it is staying put.
I checked up on the peel and seal on other sites, some say the glue will turn loose in the heat. Being in Texas worries me about the heat.
