Tube headers were the only difference. They both use the 351 FO. Tube headers were later in the production year. It was not an option.

I found 1991 Thunderbird Strut rod bushing. Inner Diameter is .90 inches (per Rock Auto) 1977 Maverick Inner Diameter is .94 inches. (per Rock Auto)

What brand of strut rod bushings do you use? Nothing looks like an OE replacement, more like a universal fit.
Update: I went to the junkyard and got some 83 Bronco backing plates that use 11 X 2.25 shoes. Removal was easy. Finding plates that didn’t have...
Nope. All 82 and later 5.0 HO use 351 FO including the 84-85 CFI HO. SO 5.0's use the 302 FO.
Sorry thought I added all that… Just changing the backing plate. Would like a longer anchor pin.
