Just got a well used set of sport mirrors. Where can I find the rubber gaskets? Instructions on how the get the glass out to clean, sand and paint. Also need the remote nut and back plate.

You might be able to slide the cable down and tape it off. I took one apart and you need to take note of the colors and the routing of the wires, take a good pic if you can. might also spray the cables with some PB blast and let them soak for a bit, get them cables working good before you paint it if you decide to leave it together and taped off. I only have a nut, no back retainer. I thought I saw that available through AK but not certain. Good luck...

Behind the mirrors are phillips screws so you can remove the mirror.

I wouldn't remove the cables. Just pull the mirror out of the housing a little ways and mask it off.

Here are some pics that show how to take them apart. The first pic shows you where the screws are to take off the mirror base's. The second pics shows where the screws are to take the mirrors out of the remote mirrors. The third pic shows you where the screw is to take the mirror out of the manual mirrors. The last two pics are how I remembered where my cables go back to after I took them out of the housing, I just color coated them before I removed them. I myself didnt have any trouble taking them apart, but I would suggest being very careful when getting the screws out of the remote mirrors, they can be hard to get to. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Just found the dog chewing on my shoes, and that gave me an idea.

Buy some black Dr. Scholls inserts and cut the gaskets out of that. Less than 5 bucks.

Mustang sport mirror gaskets are not exactly the same as Maverick sport mirror gaskets, I tried it and it does not sit flush to the base or the mirror. You would have to try heating it up and flexing it to correct the problem. But I was able to find a set of used Maverick gaskets so I did not purchase the Mustang ones.
