At the track today we decided to adjust the timing on Franks car... I had just said that I hoped I wouldn`t get "hit" by MSD and we fired the engine, I had a metal (craftsman) timing gun in my left hand...grabbed the distributor with the right hand and then... Arced to the Right hand! Arced to the Timing gun in my Left hand! Arced from the change in my left pocket to my leg! Jumped at least a 2"gap from the hood to the top head! (bzzzt!!) Arced from A FILLING in my upper left tooth (Molar) To My TONGUE ! actually Burning my tongue! (stll sore!)
Ouch!! ...I bet you won't do that again. They say a MSD spark is enough to electrocute you. Better be glad your keys wasn't in your right pocket...you would have arced pocket to pocket and everywhere between
Sounds like an electrifying experience! Bet you had an awesome 'fro going on after that!! Oh man, the mental image of Mike with a 'fro...
I was so sorry that it happened that i cried... as a matter-of-fact I am crying just reading about it... :sorry: I could hear the crackling (brain frying) sound comming off the top of his head... his wife said she saw him dancing around but thought he had hit his head on the...hood latch...(again). I didn't know "DRAG RACING" was so fun-ny... Mikes Friend Frank...:Handshake...
Wait til you get bit by a magneto like used on sprint cars. MSD doesn't come anywhere close! The mag will knock you down. My chest was hurting for a good while afterwards. Felt like the way a heart attack is described. You can help avoid it by not being the path of least resistance. Meaning you need good wires and most importantly, a GOOD ground. My Maverick used to bite me when I adjusted the distributor before I put a ground between the head and chassis. Hasn't done it since--knock on wood.
