Comin' home in the old beater after a weekend up in the Blue Ridge mountains, came up on a very steep hill where the whole road was iced over and lost it. Gave the rocky side of the mountain a little love tap. No structural damage, drove it 60 miles on home. Fender and hood were bondo filled pieces of crap (as is the rest of the car), just hate that the bumper and valance got taken out. May be able to salvage the valance, this is the 3rd time it's been bent up.
Glad to hear you're ok... I bet what hurt the worst was gettin out and lookin at it R.I.P. Bondo panels
Not sure if I'm going to bother rebuilding it or not. I was actually planning to park the car for good in about 2 weeks anyway. After 366,000 miles and 10+ years in Philadelphia in the 80's and 90's, the back of the car is starting to fall apart from rust, plus it's been hit hard in the rear at some point and poorly repaired. Just going to tear all the bent up crap off and slap another fender on it for now so I can get back and forth to work for the next couple of weeks, it's my only running vehicle right now.
oh man that almost made me cry, glad your ok though. my dad owns a tow company so ive seen this stuff throughout my life.
I've got piles of parts and 12 other Mavericks, but yeah, the disc brakes, rearend, Caprice tail lights, high back buckets, etc. will make it to the next one. Was planning to use the bumper, valance and grill on the next one as well, but obviously that ain't happenin' now. The next one will be basically an exact clone of this one as far as looks go, but it will actually be "nice" and show worthy, it will be a sunny weather driver only. This one has been my primary driver through rain, sleet, hail, snow, ice, you name it for the past 5 years, I've put 136,000 miles on it since Dec. 2005.
southern boys cant drive in the snow...they're not used to it in kentucky, we're sorta like a mixed breed...we're southern but have to adapt to the cold northern winters from time to time, so basicly we can survive anything but seriously, glad ur ok Jamie...sucks for ur car tho
Glad only the car got hurt. Now the hard part: deciding which of your warehouses of parts to get a replacement fender from.
