Is the Hood Emblem, and the Grill Light Bezels, correct for a 76 4 Door Maverick...?

..or was this just Ford's 76' marketing pictures, differing from what was actually put on the cars?

I've never seen one with an emblem like that on the hood. Reminds me of the Comet emblem.:)

never seen that emblem either...does look like a comet one though...I have seen the fancy signal lights, think it was an option....

Besides the fender script it looks like there is another hood badge on the sail panel.

also incorrect - headlight adjustment screws

Wow....I had almost the same exact car!! Mine had been repainted...but it started life like that one.

Hard to see in my picture, but it did have a factory hood emblem. It stuck up in the air. It also had the emblems on the side sail panels.

I would say the turn signals in the grill with the crosshairs is wrong.

That was some "special edition" model that they came out with mid year I believe (can't remember what they called it) but I don't think it was a huge selling success, lol. I've seen them, and I've seen photos of them as well. But as Craig mentioned, I don't remember seeing the "cross hair" chrome trim on the turn signals. Makes sense though, Ford pulls some "old" parts out of the bins at an attempt to cheaply dress up an aging platform....

Looks like one of those late 70's "Ghia" badges isn't it? Wasn't this pkg discussed before as a later years dress up pkg?

I think '76 was the first year for the "cross-hair-less" turn signal housings but since this appears to be promotional it's likely a carry-over

Now that you mention it, that does look a lot like a Granada or Monarch Ghia ... look at the hubcaps. I can't recall those coming on a Mav, but it seemed like every other Granada had them.

They had Ghia versions of the Mustang II ... trying to recall if there was a Pinto, as well.

Wow....I've never heard of a Ghia Mustang...but I looked them up, and the badges sure do look similar.

Hey Craig: You might have had a very rare Ghia Maverick. I wonder what the Maverick badges came from?

Here's a pic of the Mustang Ghia:

They look similar to a Ghia badge....but don't say Ghia.

I did some more searching...and I guess it was the LDO (Luxury Decor Option) of 76, that gave some of the 76' LDO Mavericks, the badges on the hood, and the sailpanels...

..and I guess it wasn't just some of the 4 door (76') LDO Mavericks that had the hood badge. Some of the 2 door (76') LDO Mavericks had the hood badges too. I've never seen a pic of one of these badges up close. I should ask DDB if he has one of these, just for the fun of it! :D

Here is the article on Ebay:

Here is a pic I found online of a 2 door Maverick with the hood badge:

Here's a side by side comparison of the Maverick Hood badges, with a ghia style hood badge I found online: (they look close)
