I was reading a thread here a while back about how many people were not able to find replacement inserts locally. I checked every parts store in my area and came up dry. They all said they could no longer set them.....only complete blades.

I did a search on ebay for "wiper inserts" but didn't come up with anything. Then last night I realized I was using the wrong search keywords....you have to search "wiper refill". I found quite a few sets of refills to fit the original arms. Got a set on the way.

I couldnt find the factory baldes so I bought plastic ones, disassembled and painted them dull aluminum. Dead on with the color of the arms. Had lots of people at cruises ask where I got the metal blades from?

From my experience, you're better off to replace the whole blade assembly at one time instead of just the inserts. The tabs that hold the inserts will wear after a time and let the blades flop. I know that you can just re-bend the tabs, but they still won't work as well as new ones. I'd rather spend $4-$5 more on an assembly than take a chance on scratching a groove in a good windsheild when an insert flops over....

ok. correction. AK back order must be over. It came this afternoon. The hinge piece it comes with to attach the blade to the arm is cheap looking bulky plastic. no good... but it's on there anyway :16suspect

NPD sells both the wiper blade with the rubber insert in factory style and also the inserts(refills).

Ok, I've gotta back up here. I thought my Maverick still had the original arms and that I had just replaced the inserts. I searched and found 15" inserts to match my blades and just as I was putting them on (I wanted to keep the look of the factory silver blade)....I noticed one of them was broke and they say Trico. So the inserts do me no good.

I went to the local parts store and their books show 16" on a Maverick. Maybe I had put the wrong ones on my car in the past??? Any how, they had steel blades but they were black. I think I'll paint them argent as suggested.
