I have been working with Dan Hines, famous creator of the replacement steerhead logo emblems that have been so popular in hopes of reproducing a Mercury crest for those of us with a Comet. As you know, the Maverick caps are difficult to find, and the centers are not reproduced. Comet caps are even more rare. These emblems should be the same quality as the emblems that Dan had made. I am leaning towards the thought of selling them in sets of 5 to deplete the minimum order. Thus these sets would be a little higher than the amount that Dan gets for 4 emblems. With 5 emblems you would have a spare or one for your steering wheel center. Final cost has not been determined and will be based on the amount that we have made. Please respond here to let me know if anyone has interest in these emblems. I am willing to sacrifice one of my mint emblems for this project. They should fit aftermarket wheels including Magnum 500's such as the centers Dan has on his yellow Maverick. I am posting a pic below to show the original Mercury center from my GT. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Seth
Heck, I think you should give a free set to any one who registers a GT in your registry. Count me in for a set.
Please count me in for two sets. I have been looking for a while for something for the centers of my wheels and found nothing Mercury related that would be right....this will do the trick!
That's nine or more sets. I will go ahead with this. I'll let you know what the total price will be. Thanks, Seth
I have commitments for 10 sets so far. I will go ahead with the details with Dan. If I have any left over, I will likely offer them to some of the Cougar websites as they used the same Mercury crest logo in '69-'73. Mercury Marauder X100(?) cars used the Kelsey-Hayes Magstar wheels with the Mercury crest logo on the center caps. These same wheels were an option on '67 Shelby GT's. Thanks for the interest. Keep responding so that I will have enought to keep the price per unit down. Thanks- Seth redcometgt@aol.com
Dan's are $20 per set of 4, but he is able to sell more of them giving a lower per unit cost to produce. I am hoping to be able to sell 5 for $27-$30 including shipping. I will let you know when more people respond. To get down to $20 per set of four I would have to sell 25 or more sets and I don't see that happening with interest where it is now. Thanks, Seth
