Hi all: Hoping for some guidance here. After removing my headliner, I found the old insulation on the inside of the roof to be - well, "less than desirable" - so I renoved it in hopes of replacing it with superior/new material. For anyone that has pulled and installed a new headliner themselves, WHAT types of insulation/sources have they used to replace the old insulation? Thanks!! Chris
I used Peel & Seal after I cleaned/prep/painted with 2 coats of Rust Bullet. http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_35.html
I'm gonna be using the Peel and Seal this week.. I got it all preped and intended to go to Lowes but it's 25 miles away so I decided to wait till I needed more stuff while I'm there.. If you need Upholstery Trim and or supplies, try American Trim & Upholstery Supply, L.L.C. I got my vinyl top and glue from them. www.atrim.com
I was planning on using a radiant barrier, woven cotton kind of material. Like this: http://www.bondedlogic.com/construction-products/ultratouch-radiant-barrier I didn't know so many are using peel and seal... I figured it was more for noise suppression rather than heat reflectance.
Exactly......to clarify, I have already applied FatMat Rattletrap extreme, but I was hoping to add another layer of material for heat reflectance as well. Was wondering what people were doing along those lines. Chris
If you know anyone that does Heating and Cooling work, they will probably sell you a piece of the insulation that goes on the inside of metal ductwork. About 1/2" thick. Worked great on my Maverick!
