I was out driving the other day and got pretty much fed up with the noise from my Holley blue pump! I picked up a new Holley HP 125 and just installed it! Wow..is all I can say! This pump is quiet! You can just barely hear it when I turn the key...but once the car is running you do not hear anything...incredable! I am just so impressed right now! I should have done this long ago...so if anyone is looking for a quiet electric pump...here it is. I got model # 12-125...supposed to be good up to 700horse..so its not a cheapy thing
Summit has them for $180 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HLY-12-125&N=700+115&autoview=sku
here is a link: http://media.putfile.com/fuel-pump notice how loud it is compared to th klinking of the car keys as I turn the ignition. When the car is running the sound is totally gone! Of course...my car is pretty quiet to start with. The Holley Blue was mega mind-numbinly loud and the inside and just plain annoying on the outside. I love this pumpbest thing I did this year!
Since I've already bought 3 different pumps. I will wait for a second opinion before buying the forth. Who is next?
Im with Dennis, it sounds very promising though I would like to hear it after a a few hours of breakin.
I looked at the HP 150 also on Summits site, but I wonder if it would be as quiet when all that extra pressure is pushing against the regulator (sort of dead heading and loading up against the pump) ?? Also I`m thinking that if the 12-125 model is supposed to support 700 horse power ,it would be all I will EVER need. I`m actually exited about this because the ONLY thing I don`t like about driving my car is that nerve racking fuel pump noise!
I might look into that as well. My fuel pump sounds like a blender full tree branches. That thing is whisper quiet!
Quiet fuel pump? I thought that was an oxymoron? My is a constant WAHH-WAHH-WAHH-WAHH - even over the 40's. :16suspect
I have some questions about the noise from electric pumps. I have always double isolated electric pumps. I mount a plate with rubber isolators to the frame (or sub-frame) and then mount the pump to the isolated plate with another set of isolators. I use rubber fuel line to the pump from the tank and connect the pump to my metal fuel line with a short length of rubber fuel line. Connected and mounted in this way I have never had much noise from any pump I have used. Certainly no noise that can be heard in the cab while the engine is running. (I use quiet mufflers because I don't like the noise at road speed) How are you mounting and connecting your pumps?
