Looks like a simpler way to do a complex task. Anyone know if the Mustang Repops work in a Maverick? Dan http://personal.ecu.edu/boydd/tech/cowl/cowl.html
They are quite different although the top hat its self is the same. I restored a 67 MUstang and compared them at the time.
i have heard about that method once before... it wouldnt be that hard to do, except for keeping the metal from warping when you weld the outer skin back in place just stitch it slowly i suppose
i don't understand why he cut way down the side like he did when i did the cowl repair on my '71 mav., i came over the lip about 3/4" and went all the way around and across the bottom of the windshield. did my repair and set the top back on and stiched it back up. ...frank...
any time you weld body panels,(or any thin material) you need to space your tacks, so distortion is not accelerated. then stitch the seams closed. that way you retain the integrity of the panel, and secure it as well.
never I can see sectioning in the rusted out inner panals, maybe..but I would never carve up the top pamal in that manner. If its that bad the whole top panal needs to removed and reinstalled.
