So I picked up this parts car today, the one that was used to bring Chip's Comet back from the dead. It's a 75 Comet, V8 conversion, Floor Shift C4, AC, Manual Steering car. No Engine or trans. The car is rusted out pretty bad and the roof is missing, so I would have to look if any sheet metal parts of the body shell are still good. It has a complete set of seats, buckets in the front. It had front disc brakes, 8" rear. So European Owners, it's your turn: If there is anything from this car you might need, please let me know. I will continue to part it out until there is nothing left, but I want to make sure I don't miss anything out somebody might need over here!
it was a trip to hell and back... when we first loaded the car on the trailer, we put it on with the rear facing the back. with the weight distribution, we nearly ended up all over the highway - no way to keep the trailer from dancing around. close to the end of the planned 14 hour round trip, we ran into a major traffic jam due to a closed highway. we managed to get off, but due to me being too smartass, we ended up on a steep, private DEAD END road. that was no fun backing up, i guess we fried the clutch of the towing van. when i finally unloaded the trailer, it was a 18 hour trip... and all for this utter piece of garbage? oh well, at least i have a decent spare hood with scoop for myself!
I've done that with a "too light" loaded trailer and it is not fun - love it when it starts to bounce like a basket ball
here's one more shot. it's a complete 75 interior! a little dirty, but only minor rips in the seats. door panels got a little wet, but all the plastic seems to be good.
Tody, let me know about interior and radiator [its good radiator or leaking one, and how is inside radiator, a lot of bad stuff inside?] Price and more pictures. ATM is the more important for me Also rear lights and front turn-signals and bumpers and front springs and also interested via how looks the rear drums on front drums or discs?
WOW!!!!! What a beauty!!!!! I´m interested in a lot of things, floor shifter + assembly, battery shelf/compartment, interior, disc brakes, manual steering ( the whole setup) , bucket seats with rails... The list can go on and on, I would not mind the whole car really , just a matter of solidarity, price and shipping... Thank you for doing this, I haven´t been around for a while but now I´m back and I´m here to stay!!!! Please contact me when you got the time and we´ll see what we can figure out! All the best! Bobby
thats perfect, guys... i think i will find the time to part out the car this weekend, so i will take lots of pictures on the parts you might need. battery tray and front floor pans are rusted out, though.
here are some more shots, i removed all the junk and got to the parts that are actually useable. first, i have a complete 75 ldo interior in black. back side panels, kick panels, door panels, seats. driver seat has no seat rails, and a tear in the upholstery. passenger seat has the rails, but they are for a catalytic converter car. i have the seat belts, rear set is complete. the passenger front shoulder belt is missing. i believe the plastic parts that cover the seat belts on the rocker are there, too. does 300€ sound like a decent price?
then i have a complete automatic floor shifter package: shifter hump, shift lever. floor shift steering column, shift lever from the transmission, both rods (to tranny and column). these parts are from the car and my own spare parts i had bought in the past. does 200€ sound fair? also in this picture: a complete a/c heater box. i have no idea what they are worth. same for a complete parking brake kit from this 75. any use for that? gas pedal and throttle cable for a 250? wiper motor and linkage?
anybody want to convert to a v8? frame mounts and belly bar. does 100€ sound right? also in this picture: manual center link. manual steering box. stock sway bar. shock mounts and export braces.
just digging this old thread up - anyone else? robert already got his share from the car and will now be able to finish his v8 conversion :Handshake
