Drip Rail Chrome Molding

Does anyone have any good advise or handy little trick to remove the chrome on the drip rail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used a flat bladed screw driver. I started at the back and worked my way forward. I put the blade on the bottom of the lip and pulled it to me. Its not easy but I've taken 3 sets off this way.

 

I used a can opener wrapped in electrical tape, it worked perfect, just take your time.

 

We use a sharp putty knife and gently tap the molding off. As you can see, there are a whole lot of ways to remove the drip rail molding, but key is to go slow and take your time. The drip rail moldings are very easy to bend and twist if you're not careful.

 

I use a small flat blade and hammer and jently tap the bottom lip off starting from the back. As everyone says, go slow.

 

While you have it off, consider keeping it off. I painted my car with it off, and I like it better with painted drip rails. Just my $.02

 

Thanks to everyone. That is kinda what I thought but you never know what someone comes up with. I have the drip rail painted on my 72 and it looks just fine. Earl I never thought of removing it and painting what is under it.. That might be an option. Thanks again to everyone.

the old bottle opener works great as mentioned above. A little tape around the opener and you can gently remove the chrome without damaging it. Very slick and clean way of removal.

 

Same here...looks great without the chrome.

 

My Sprint came with no stainless trim on the drip rails and side window glass. I added it all to mine. I like it.
