Well after 2 days of grease and sweat, I finally got my weak 74 302 out of the car. And today at my doorstep what did I find? A brand new shiny set of AFR 185cc Outlaw heads,, now to clean up the engine bay finish up my steering, find a tranny, and put in my fresh roller with the bottom end assembled by Ohio George Montgomery. The whole project includes Speed Pro pistons, Ford Rancing X303 cam, all MSD electronics, Ford Racing roller rocker, RPM Air Gap intake, Performer Carb. This baby is gonna burn some rubber. Hope to have the motor in before Chistmas. Im gonna weld up some side pipes made out of red Thrush glasspacks for that tacky but badass style. Does anyone happen to recommend a body guy in the Dayton, Ohio area? I w ill need some major work around the top of my windshield somebody did a poor patch job up there (way too much mud).
The carb? Well money for one, its the carb I already have. I knew I wanted one around the 600-650 range, was looking at Quick Fuel but my job has been sporadic lately and now I'm wondering if I can afford the TCI street fighter I want. I never had any problem with the stock c4 but, I would feel better if I knew it was solid by the time I rebuild it I could have the 900 for the TCI. But with the carb, as soon as I know I have the extra money, Im going with a serious one. Like proform or quick fuel. Aloha
You may find that Edelbrock is too lean for that setup. I had a 600 cfm 1406 and every time I added an improvement to the engine, I had to rich up the jets and rods. I finally got to the point where I had the richest combo set up and it was still too lean. So I traded it for a 750 Street HP Holley Double Pumper. Yes, about twice the price of the Edelbrock, but now I am starting off rich and just had to lean it out a couple jets to my liking. On the plus side, since the edelbrock ran so lean, I got 20 mpg on the highway with it...
By the way, I like how tastefully you set up that car and paint. Have you done interior yet? any pics?
Yeah I got 20 mpg... on the original 302 with that 600. Eventually I will go with a much better carb. The interior is ok, I needs new carpet but there is a company in the next town the does a good pre molded one for cheap. I also need a headliner, however I am toying with the idea of removing the rear seat and panels, putting in some aluminum sheet to clean things up and just painting the inside of the roof black. From a weight savings standpoint. I really like the race car interior looks on a street car. In my opinion the rear seat is too small for any real action anyway. :evilsmile Unfortunatly as cool as the paint is will have to go one day. I have some bondo here and there, and I cant stand bondo so im gonna have to get some welding going on. But when I do finish the body, I will keep the flat black top theme. Maybe go with a ford blue on the sides and add a body color dual center stripe. But I do like that metallic orange too.
If you order pre-molded carpet, do NOT order for '74 year model. That is a transition year. I ordered 74 model carpet, and got it molded for the cat humps. I had no cats. So I have lots of extra carpet bunched up here and there. If you have a pre-cat car, order 72, or if you have cats, order a 75.

[/QUOTE] You might try Jim's Body Shop on Dayton Yellow Springs Rd. in Fairborn. They do good work there...ask for Rerun (Mike).
Thanks I think I have heard of that guy before. hey about them cats I dont know for sure if i have the hump or not where exactly is it and what kinda dimensions is it?
I think it is a bump under the passenger seat sticking out of the trans tunnel. It makes the trans tunnel assymetrical. By the way, it appears that you typoed your timeslip numbers, and put yourself at the number one position on the timeslip list. May want to fix that up
