My girlfriends dad just bought me a duraspark ignition I think its a 1. Is there any difference between a 1 or 2??? with a one can I still run a diffenent coil like accell from my local autoparts store??? Detailed instructions on how to put this in will be greatly appreciated. Is this a pretty straightfoward swap???

    thanks for the help William

The D-I was used from 73-76 IIRC, with the D-II coming in from 76-83. The noticeable difference is in the size of the cap. The D-II uses a large cap with male posts. The D-I uses a regular cap.

There are some differences in wiring and in the internal electronics of the control box, but either distributor can be effective. Go to Ford Six and click on the Tech link. You'll find a D-II article in there.
