Well, the Mav has been mine for close to 15 years now. My mom gave it to me in the early 90's cause she was just going to junk it.

Well, 15 years later, she sees the mav again, in unrestored condit and gets all googoo over it and is begging me to restore it so she can drive it again (not own it, just drive in it every once in a while) So the project has begun starting with the engine as many are aware.

There is a severe problem that will arise soon. My mom wants me to pretty much restore the thing identical to the day she bought it, because is was so "pretty/beautiful"

Car is was that sky blue/grabber blue color. I have fallen in love with black, and she wants the original blue again.

what should I do?? I would love to please her and paint it blue again, but I love how it looks in black. I have seen a couple of beautiful grabber blue mav's here, but none of my friends like that color and call it femine--which it may or may not be,

    anyway, open to suggestions.

Kick Mom to the curb. Tell her you will paint it blue if she lets you paint her house any color you like.

It's nice to please mom, but if the car is yours. Paint it black. Be nice about it, but if you don't want a color, don't paint it that. I assume you're paying for the paint job, too. Enough said.

Mothers day is over, tell her it will only be blue if she pays for everything. Other than that it is YOUR money and YOUR car, don't pay for something you don't want. Also as a little encouragement, you don't really want us all to call you a momma's boy, do you? lol, j/k

thanks for the input, and that is the way I am heading.... It would just really hurt her to see it in black, as it was always her beautiful blue car---

ya ya, I maybe I just need to get over it and stop being so sensitive.

I attatched a picture of one from this site I have had saved on my computer, I forgot who the owner was...

This is pretty close to the color I am thinking mine was originally.

It is damn beautiful, and it is this car that makes me still think about painting it this color
