Deciding to stay original and I'm having some trouble trying to color match paint to my original 1970 color. The plate on the door is not legible and covered with something. When I try and clean with thinner etc., it takes the lettering off when I try and clean. Can someone let me know what the met blue color was named for a 1970 Maverick. I have included a pic of a door I purchase and ironically it's the same color blue as my car. My car is now white, but who ever painted it, did a cheap job because the door jams and under-hoods are still blue. Does anyone know if there was a blue similar, but maybe a shade darker as well. I am asking that question because I saw the car again today at the body shop and it looks like it can be a shade darker than the door from what I remember??

If anyone can help me solve this little mystery, much appreciated. I know I am not giving very much useful info to go by, but this is all I have for now.

    Thanks!!
