Hi this is new to me. And have never done a bullitine board.
I just bought a 70 mavrick that was sold to me as a grabber. I am questioning this because it has four lug bolts on the wheels and has a 200 cid engine. I would like to know if it is. It does have the hood of a graber with the scallped scoups and the flared trunk hood and rear fender flairs. It also has bucket seats. Can anyone help. Also I need to find parts and were the best place to find them are. Right away I would like a blinker hanldle assembly and front grill. It has a custome grill that looks out of place. I am also looking for some profile pictures of a 70 graber to see what it really is suppose to look like.

Unfortunately there is no way to prove a 1970 Maverick is a Grabber or not unless your purchase a Marti Report ( http://www.martiauto.com ) or have the original invoice. 1970 Grabbers did not come with a Grabber hood or buckets seats ... They did have a rear spoiler and sport mirrors. Check out the photo gallery at http://www.maverick.to ...

It is very possible that you do have a grabber. Some did come with Straight 6's.

This is the right place to start there are some guys on here that know more about Mavericks than you will ever need to know. You can find some pic's at www.maverickcometclub.org you can also find parts at www.autokrafters.com .

    Enjoy your Maverick

The MAJORITY of Grabbers ( and regular Mavericks for that matter) came with 6-cylinders ... ALL 1970 Mavericks were 6-cylinders ... 302 was not offered until 1971 ...

And all 1970 Mavericks had 4-lug wheels. Didn't need anything else since they came only with 6 cylinders. Doesn't matter if it was a Grabber or not. And like Dan mentioned about the hood, the 70 Grabber had a flat hood so it would have been added at some point. The scooped hood only came on 71 and 72 Grabbers.
Oh yeah, welcome to the board. Glad to have you here.:)

I'm in the same boat as you. I got a 70 maverick also and was told it was a grabber. weather or not it is i'm not sure but i had the 4 lug and stuff too. I have 5 lug disc on front and putting 5 lug 8" on back right now just gotta get new U bolts and drake parts before i finish it. Everything bolted up great i put old ones in it just to make sure and it fits in the same spot my 7.5 4 lug rear end did.

A friend of mine had a 70 Grabber back in the late seventies that he bought from the original owner. It too had the flat hood, 6 cylinder engine and 4 lug axles. It also had bucket seats, they could have been a late year option. You could still have a grabber, it seems that some exterior parts have been added to it. I don't believe Ford had a option designation on the VIN for the grabber. Good Luck, and remember build what you like and drive it forever!

    1971-75 had Grabber designated in VIN (93) ... 1970 did not ...

Bucket seats were never an option on a 1970 Maverick.

It's great that there are so many Maverick newcomers but all you newbies should really do alot of reading, research and fact-finding prior to posting information that is absolutely incorrect on the board .... Just my :2cents: ...
