How rare are these cars and are they worth fixing? I would like to know before I dump money into them.

I do not think that you will get a negative answer to that question here. All here will tell you that the Maverick/Comet is the best car ever made. I also have that opinion. You can do so much with them. Anything you want. Just look around the site and you can see that every one of the cars here are loved. Yes we own other cars but the Maverick/Comet holds a special place in our life.

So I guess the answer to your question is YES!!!!!!

i guess to answer your question, they are not very rare and dumping money in them as an investment may not make you much if anything. however they are gaining in value and they do have quite a following. if you plan on keeping them you can have a lot of fun. welcome to the board. we're getting more and more from az on here.

I agree with Don. As classic cars they haven't had much of a following except for nostalgia until recently. As popular as they seem to have been during the 70s as a good economy car, there aren't too many still out there, so the rareness is growing as is the price (just look at Ebay prices in the last few months). I'd say if you plan on reselling try to get as much bang for your buck as they're not as collectible as others (yet), but if you're going for a classic that you can own and drive (many here use them as daily drivers), they're a fantastic little car. They can go from DD's to drag cars, depending on what you want to put into them.

Oh, and :Welcome: to the forums.

You can make money on them if your name has Foose, or Coddington at the end of it. I know I have more dumped into my car than I'll ever get out of it, but I have lots of fun with it, on the street or on the track.
If you like attention, Mavs kinda get it, I'll hear "You never see these anymore"
or "I knew a guy with one...", and so on when I go to cruise nights or car show.
