I bought a 77 mav parts car and I'm wanting to do the disc brake swap. What do I need to do this, ie do I have to have the lower control arms with the spindles? My mav is a 70. I'm keeping the decklid and the hood and everything to do with the brakes but it does have a 5 lug 8" rear if anybody is interested or the rest of the car for that matter. I have no place to keep it so when I strip it in a week or so I'm calling the guy that hawls em away for free.
Hey John, it is blue and a 2 dr. come on down and take whatever you need. Hate to send it to the scrap yard but like I said I have nowhere to keep it.
Also it has a 250 six cyl and c-4, the c-4 worked when it was parked but the fluid has all leaked out, motor runs. What can I say it was a cheap parts car for what I wanted.
Just a thought I know c4's are everywhere, but when I craked my bellhousing I had a hell of a time finding another small bell, if it is not on your list of things you need off of the car, I would gladly take that to!
Did you figure out your brake issue yet? We converted our mav to front disk brakes, and it wasnt really difficult. If you still need to know what is required for the conversion, post again and I will list it.
Willy, I do need to know if I need those lower control arms, and yes if you have a list of everything I would love to see it before I get started. THANKS!!!
The lower control arms are the same and DO NOT need to be changed. You will have to change the spindles however...
Hey Ward... I have decided that the 75' is to far gone to restore. So I am going to get some stuff off of it and get rid of it. I am going to take the disc brakes, so when you get done with your, WE can do mine!

Well, Craig, I sure you can relate with my delima: married with 2 boys, a job, a desire to race, the wife wanting to ride the harley everytime we get the chance, 1 maverick with no room for more and a van that needs some restoring, there is just not enough time. I originally bought the 75 from a salvage yard for $50. for the disc brakes. Got it home and with a little tinkering I had it running(had not ran in 3 years) so I got this brain storm to try and make it a decent street cruiser. If I had room to let it sit in my yard for a year or so, thats what I would do. But, its just not practical for me right now. I figure that instead of having 2 mavs. that are decent, I am going to put all my (free) time and money into my 70' and make it a strip/sometimes street rod. Even with getting rid of the 75, it will still take years to get the 70 the way I want it(is a project ever done?) but hey, I have time(for 1) and the 70' is my "baby" it ain't going anywhere! Like I said, I hate to get rid of it, but sometimes we must realize that reality is, just that, reality.
