If I was in the buying mood, I could get a 83 ford f350 dually 460/c6 for $400 bucks.. I figured it would tow a mav if nessesary... The 8 mpg scares me though...lol

What works for me is to try to keep my tow rig and trailer as light as possible!
I use a 1996 F150 super cab 4x4 with a 393 stroker engine, a towlight trailer ! With out the car it weighs 7500 pounds ! loaded with all my tools and my car It is under 11000.

I use a '13 Super Crew Eco Boost and an aluminum H&H trailer with torsion suspension. The Eco makes more HP and Torque than my F250 V10 did and still gets 21 MPG without the trailer. So far best mileage with a car on the trailer was 17 and the worst was 8.5. This was taken a couple weeks ago when I was headed to Oklahoma to trade this '66 for the Henry J (don't worry, the '66 was starting to have issues with paint and the new guy wanted to paint it anyway, It wasn't as nice as it looks).

    2001 Dodge Cummins extra cab 4X4. It's not a rocket...but you don't notice a trailer behind it.

And it makes that cool diesel rattle! Lets you know that you are in a truck.

The Bronco's power plant put down 400rwhp/400rwtrq @ 2k rpms; I'm not certain it would even know it is pulling anything, but the gas gauge may tattle...

Simple. Works for me. Ranchero gone and the Maverick fits the trailer better.

Our company tow rig is a Ford F-350 Super Duty with a Cummins conversion. They are called a "Fummins" on the internet. It was formerly a V-10. Fuel mileage is better than our former 6.0 power stroke F-350.
