Well I finally got the Mav running the way it should be, fires right up and stays running the first time no more cranking for in upwards of 5 mins

Anyway the other day I was sitting in the driveway running the car for awhile it was at night and i had the lights on I stared at my rather dim instrument cluster for awhile and thought could I improve that thing any?
What I wanna do here is not only make it brighter so it's easy to read the gauges at night but i'd like to do something similiar to what you find on many new cars, not just lights around the gauges but the Instrumentation itself like the numbers on the speedo, the letters on the gas gauge, the needles, etc, i've heard of some people going with white faced gauges i hear they're easier to see, I was wondering who here has upgraded their cluster I know a few people have i'm just curious to see what they did and how they did it cause I really wanna improve mine when I get the funds, the old stale dim Ford instrument lights just aren't cutting it, I suppose I could get by with just getting brighter cluster bulbs but I guess i'm looking to be a little more elaborate :D.

    bulb swap

    Hey Joe
I just did the bulb swap on my car and its the best 10 bucks I ever spent on it. And very easy also. Also while I had it off I painted the inside white . I dont know if that helped but I figured it couldnt hurt:D . I can really see them good now .I like the white face look but I enter shows in the unrestored classes and that would hurt:eek: . Just do a search and you will get all the info you need. Good luck. Later Tim

What are the part #'s for the bulbs? Also, I want to replace the bulb in the floor shifter. That is worse than the dash.

b3000, got dakota digital to make them.had them to fit in the back of the cluster. all the wires that plug into the stock cluster worked as they were wired for them from the factory for digital set up. i put the sending units in that came with the set.

i made up the cluster and set it in like stock. they scared a $ 700 dollar bill to death. ...frank...

Well that might have nearly skeert a 7hunert dollar bill to death. But that definately has a cool factor you cant put a price on.

Hey Joe If you paint the inside of the cluster, whatever color you paint it just make sure it's very glossy or shoot a few coats of clear over it or you'll have nearly no lighting at all.
I learned this when I did my white gauges.

Thats pretty cool 71gold, i've always wondered if a digital setup was possible, I'll try the brighter bulbs for now, if anyone has ever driven a Pontiac Vibe or Toyota Matrix you'd get the idea of the gauge setup i'm after but I know now that'll cost a small fortune :D
