I fixed the rust under on the lip of my hood by cutting a part from a regular Maverick hood and welding it on. I'm happy with it.
Great Job! I think you found a new profession ... Grabber Hood Repair ... I'm sure you'll have people on this board lining up!
im first to sign up...... fix my hood.....my rust is a little more extensive.....but what did you use to do the repair??
Thanks guys. I was pretty excited myself because I was dreading doing the repair for a while and was even planning on getting a fiberglass hood for a while. I cut out a piece from a regular hood and luckily it fit real good. I accidentally cut through the top of the hood in one area. The prep work was very time-consuming. I had to grind out rust, paint on rust converter on the surfaces, etch-prime and glue the piece down. The welding was slow, got it all tacked up then welded and grinded. The grinding was the hardest part. PITA. The whole job took me about 24 work hours. I thank the body guy that encouraged me to fix it and this board for keeping me motivated. By the way, I finished the body work on my Grabber and the car is now ready for paint. Body work was a pain...just kept finding small dings and mild rust to fix. I only used 2 small cans of mud and I'm now pretty good at fixing the dings by hammering and adding a small amount of body filler. I'll post pictures after its done.
