I notice the new AutoKrafters catalog shows Maverick Bucket Seat foam. They list it with a Maverick part number. The back also appears to be more square then the Mustang foam. Could it be that AK actually did get the correct foam reproduced and is not just repackaging Mustang foam?

I would be surprised but it is possible.

After looking through some Mustang sites last night it appears to be the same as 71-73 Mustang foam ... I have to follow up. They should not be using a Maverick part number if it's really a repop Mustang part.

The seat foam was in last years catalog also.

That's fine for them to do. However, if a part interchanged between multiple cars it would not have Maverick part # .. By using the Maverick Part # they are indicating it is a reproduction of a Maverick part - and it appears Maverick foam was unique to Mavericks ... not a Mustang part that may or may not fit correctly ...

Well Bust My Bubble! I just looked up the part number for a 71 Maverick bucket seat foam and it says D1DZ-60050 .... but guess what ... a 71 Mustang also uses D1DZ-60050 ... Never seen a Maverick part number on any other Ford ... Usually if a part fits multiple cars Ford would use something like D1ZZ-60050 ...

Anyway's ... I went over to Mustangs Unlimited tonight and picked up a set ... $40 cheaper than AK and no shipping charges. They are super nice quality ... made by Just-Dashes ... guy at the counter said the prior vendors foam was not as nice.

    Dan,
Is there a difference in the seat foam for the '70-'72 cars
and the '73-'74 seats like the ones you and I have in our
    cars now?

I didn't change my foam when they were recovered
    thinking they were different.

Freakin A ... I just took the cushion out of the box that the guy pulled out to show me. He ripped it in a couple of places trying to get it out and didn't even mention it to me! Dirt bag! I got the last two in stock and I want to drop everything off tomorrow to the upholstery guy before I go on vacation. I put some contact cement on it and will see if it holds. If it doesn't I think the upholstery shop has special glue to fix it ... man do I hate imcompetence and lack of integrity!

Here are the new buns. I would say the Maverick should't need the horizontal relief going across the seat because there is no seam there to hog ring down. All the rest of the reliefs are correct. I'll ask the upholstery guy to fill it in ... Mustang seats do have a seam going across there ...

    Dan,
That bottom bun looks like it would fit the later yrs. listings.

I pulled the upholstery back off one of the seat bottoms - It has the horizontal split just like the repops so it turns out they are identical to the originals ..
