After the window crank and door handle(armrest) and the panel clips, what is with the door release? What is it to remove the panel?

Did you remove the arm rest?

    Door Panel Removal

    Hi,

I just figured this one out myself.

The door release lever pocket is "lined" with a black plastic liner. It is held in by molded-in clips around the edges.

You need to gently pry one of the edges loose, then pull the entire liner out. Behind this liner is a phillips screw which holds the door release lever.

Once the door release lever is loose and the armrest and window handle are removed, you need to gently pry the door panel away from the door. It's held in place with spring clips.

I used a very long, wide screwdriver to get behind each spring clip to pop them loose. Work your way from the rear edge of the door panel to the front.

I hope I adequately explained the process.

    Regards,
    BaldEagleMav

My bad maverick1970:90: I said door handle twice. The second one should have said door release like BaldEagleMav said. I am calling the arm rest the door handle. One in a same.;)
I will change the wording in my first post.

No biggie! I have a 70 so my arm rest and door release handle are together.
So are your SHO's stock? I have a loaded red 95 SHO ATX. Have a short in the brake wiring harness that I need to fix.

O.K. I got the first post changed now. I forgot to do it right after I told ya.:slap:

The 94 is stock right now and the 99 is not. Lets say the 99 laughs once in a while.:rofl2:

Thanks, I had more stuff then and still have it now to put on it.
I don't know anyone personally with a Gen II parts car anymore. I did just get with a TCCA member(and mod)that had one at the TCCA's Presidents house for a while, but it is gone now. I got the sunvisors, atx shifter from him.

This is another year that I can't make it to the Mav nationals. I had to give it up to go and get another Mav. But went through great pains to get it home. But I will have them both there next year. I went last year as you know, but just during that day on Sat.

We drove in late Friday and left Saturday late afternoon. If you hear of any GENII parts keep me in mind.

I know you are on line. I just tried prying off the door release pocket surround. And man, it was not coming off. It felt like I was going to break it. Is that what BaldEagleMav said to do. Pry it off from the door panel?

I am not on the SHOForum do you have a link to it.

Been so long since I have seen a 73 and up. I am sure. It sounds like there is an insert within the cup itself.
