Ok, I started the tank project as i'm waiting on the arrival of my dash tray from spork. I'm hoping that it'l turn out ok. Initialy I saw some rust in there and was thinking I need to get a new one. I got it all yanked out and I just got back from the car wash where they have a really good hot water heater. So I decided to show the progress I have made for the day on my Comet before I go back to my career. :drink: [IMG] I'll be back later.
PS-I need to trade my sender, any takers?:rofl2:

Thanks to fordmaster I now have a good tank. Thanks for the sweet tea fordmaster!

I washed it at home, installed old (cut down) sender and breather at top to seal the tank, put 1/2 gallon MEK with a chain in the tank and shook it throughout the day. I power washed it, poured 1 qt. of red kote and resealed the inside. I under coated the bottom of the tank and painted the top with galvenize. I removed the fuel lines and blew sand thew them several times to help remove any debris or blockages. Wish I had a "new" sender and sock, that's easy for later though.

Looks good, glad that it worked out for you. And by the way I always have a jug of tea in the fridge, so anytime you want to stop by and have some you are more than welcome.

your tank looks good, when i got my comet i had put it in the shop because it needed a complete brake system(old one rusted out bad) and while it was there they check the tank and it was rusted pretty bad as well go figure... anyway it cost me a bunch of bucks to have them do it.... i wish i would have been able to do my own, bet i would have had saved about 500 bucks:slap:
