Bumper swap question. Guys I know some of you are aware that I bought the Bumper Freak car here while back. It was the 71 Grabber that someone decided needed to be a Big Bumper car. Well as planned my son & I are swapping it back. I was not aware that there was a difference in fenders. Aparently small bumper cars have a notch in the fenders. Aparently put Big Bumpers on this car they changed to later model fenders. What did you guys do when converted your Big Bumpers to small Bumpers, Notch the fenders? See pics below. Thanks,
Yes. And instead of cutting the entire "notch" out, only remove enough metal to leave two tabs that you can bend back so that you get the correct rolled edges when you're done. Even though this is hard to see, it makes for a more finished look.
Man, that's terrible. :16suspect And it looks like they used Comet front bumper brackets at that, because the bumper sticks out even further.
It's really weird, but a really nice car!! Do what Sam said, it's the nicest way, and looks alot better than just a cut edge.
Here is a picture I drew a long time ago when I notched my 77. It gives you the idea of what Sam was talking about. I'm no artist so be nice
Art is simply a vision, or sound of the creator and the receptor. You, my great friend are a true artist. Dan
