While I'm waiting for the engine to come back from the machine shop, I'm thinking about cutting the shock towers. The engine is a 302, but since it is a drag car I'm beginning to think extra header and sparkplug clearance will be beneficial.

Anyone have a template to use to cut them?

For your car's intended use, you should probably cut them...

I would swap in a Mustang II front suspension.....besides, it will benefit future engine upgrades

I'm thinking I should cut them also. Does anyone have the dimensions of the cut?

    Mustang II, maybe next year.

Do a search, I did mine a little deeper than others. An advanced search with threads started by me will get you dimensions.

If you cannot find them, PM me and i will pull them up for you.

I highly recommend that EVERYONE do shock tower cuts unless they are trying to keep the car 100% stock looking. It makes all the difference in the world when swapping plugs, putting on headers, pretty much any work under the hood has more room.

I remember the first time I swapped plugs...took me over an hour to get the 4 rear plugs out. My dad and I were thinking of modifying the towers at that point. A year or so later, I joined the forum and got the directions from here.
