New Hei Distributor For Carb 302/289!!

http://www.dougherbert.com/chromealu...r-p-24605.html

Pro Tech Engineering HEI Distributor
fits 289/302 carbureted, 50,000 v medium weight advance springs, distributor shaft is guided by precisely alligned bronze bushings for durability and extended street/strip use.

Hey guys.... I've been looking for an all in one distributor for a while now, and came across this unit from Doug Herbert Racing... it's listed on the website for $ 118.00 but if you tell them you saw it in a mustang and ford trader for 99.99 they will accept it. This unit has a built in coil on top like the GM units.... it pretty much is... so this does away with the cylindrical oil filled coil we have. It is 50,000V and best of all, it's spin rated to 6,800 rpms without misfire... and cheap too...

Mine will be in tomorrow, i'll keep you posted.

I just thought this was a good economical way to clean up the engine compartment, and do away with points instead of pertronix...

oh... and $10 shipping...

ohh... and best of all.... summit racing sells the clear Gm caps to fit this, so you can see the electricity.

thanks.

~Dan.

Pics of it

The clearance we'll have to see if I have problems.... hopefully not. I'm running an edelbrock rpm airgap intake, so dunno. I just received it a few mins ago via UPS man.

Heres some pictures of it... it's a "biggen"

The red coil "MSD" look has got to go....
It'll have to be black or ford blue with the clear cap I have for it.

Considering the thread is 6 years old, and the poster hasn't been on here in about a year, you might not get your answer...

I have recently installed one on mine. No intake clearance issues, but I had to ditch the big round air filter.

Like Frank said, BUTT ugly and BIG!!!

I went this route because I wanted to lose all the wires associated with the coil and MSD box.

I got one of the BIG blue ones....love it, but yes, it's freaking HUGE! Not sure if it's the higher voltage coil or not, but it gave me a little bump in performance over the canister coil and Pertronix III unit I was using before. No problems so far.

Just removed mine and threw it away it was an ebay special (accel brand) could never get the timing set correctly plus it sucked oil up into the cap, always had a oil ring the same height as the rotor, Switched to a MSD ready to run. I'm much happy'er with it.
