Jimmy; you are going to need a crossmember to make it work. I had Frank (71gold) to help me with his friend and shop owner, to make one custom. You might talk to him, and maybe we can get my car to make a template. Ain't cheap, but it is the best piece I have seen in a long time. BTW, pay special attention to the pinion angle. If you get it too straight, it will eat rear u-joints...ask me how I know. Good luck!

The 94 95 transmissions are longer than the fox cars.

The input shaft is longer on the 94-95 T5. You will need the correct bell housing from that year. This was done to place the shifter correctly in the SN95 Mustang. This may impact your crossmember and driveshaft needs.

it did for me. as mentioned, my driveshaft was cut down 1.25" and the transmission crossmember had to be extended down about 2" and moved back about 1.5". but i already had this transmission available so i went ahead and used it. this spring when i change engines, im going to build a better looking crossmember for my car and im going to keep progress pictures of it but would help people using the 94-95 trannies the most.

jimmy, you will also have to notch the floorpan support above the trans. Earl had a good pic of this when he did his car and of the crossmember. maybe he still has them?? The mustang sites are helpful on this swap too. It's a great thing , but you dont want to go too low on the rear gears, as first gear becomes useless . I have 4.11's in my car and first gear is pretty much a waste of time . I can cruise around on country roads in 5th gear all day though:) good luck

Here is what I had to do to my tunnel to make it fit. Look at post #79
    http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=36382&page=8
Your tunnel is even smaller but I know Barry runs a T5 in his 70 so it will fit. As far as a cross member, I was able to modify my stock one to work just by notching the center front edge and elongating the holes to slide it forward enough to bolt up. I'm using one of those adapter plates so I will retain my stock mechanical linkage.

I think in order to use one of those adapter plates, you have to run the '94-'95 input shaft?

The input shafts are extremely easy to change on T5's. If you have the parts on hand, it literally takes less then 20 minutes to convert a '94/'95 T5 to an '87-'93 style, or vice versa.

I am using a 93 Cobra R trans. The input shaft is about 9/16" longer than the stock trans. The adapter plate is the same thickness which makes it all work.

here's what i had to do to my trans crossmember to make my '94 transmission work. like i said before, it doesnt look pretty but serves the purpose. that's why i plan to build a 'nicer' one this spring when i tear my car apart again
