Looks good just goes to show how great some members here are.

I've had the pleasure of meeting a few in person

the toploader is now completely rebuilt.
this is how it arrived:

tore it down completely:

cleaned and painted the case:

both shafts rebuilt with new synchro rings:

reverse shaft installed:

partially assembled:

bellhousing cleaned and painted:

bellhousing and tranny back together:

hurst waiting to be installed:

i didn't put the shifter handle back on as i messed up the tailshaft output bearing. i will have to install a new one, this time properly with a bearing press...

apart from that, i re-bent, cleaned and painted the fuel lines. the rear line unfortunately had been cut, so i have three pieces in total:

the detail work is impressive. you have a good eye for that stuff. Are you gonna run the stock fuel tank with stock pickup?

Great stuff being done.
Any reason why you didn't get new fuel lines? Just wondering, I blew compressed sand through mine till I have to have new ones.

so reveal the rest of your plans. are you going with AC? Are you going to put a nice sound system in? what color interior? Did you figure out which pedal assembly you going with, I recall you wanted to do the Zbar.

Looking great, but aren't those shift levers on the transmission suppose to point down? - Matt

thanks guys

to answer your questions:
the whole fuel system didn't look too bad - absolutely no rust in the tank, the pickup was really clean. the lines were ok, so i thought i might reuse the whole system. are there actually new fuel lines available?

the shift levers are correct - the hurst competition plus is mounted that way.
i'll go with a z-bar setup for the clutch. the bar i bought with the pedal set looks like a modified early mustang one to me - i'll find out how good or bad it fits.

and the rest of the car will be nothing too spectacular. it'll get a pretty plain jane interior. no a/c and not too much of a soundsystem. maybe an alpine head unit to connect my ipod to, and alpine speakers in the back. in the front i'll use the dual voice coil speaker from custom autosound, as it can be mounted in the dash. surely more impressive will be the 347

Thomas, who is building your 347? Is is someone in Germany or are you buying a crated engine?
