I received the Rod & Custom front end on Wednesday. Just in time for a long holiday weekend. My goal was to get the old front suspension stripped out of the way and get the shock towers cut out, and then tack in the crossmember. It only took three hours to get all the old stuff out of the way on Friday. Today I cut out the towers and measured up where the new crossmember goes and mocked it in place. I got it tacked in for now. Hopefully sometime this week or coming weekend I will get a friend that is a certified welder to come over with his welder and take care of buzzing it the rest of the way in. My welder is a good Miller 110v welder, but for this I want to make sure it is done right.
Man!!! I am jealous. I want to do that SO bad... Looks like it is going smoothly so far! Let us know how the final "opinion" of the job and products are. I am seriously looking at one of these kits rather than swapping all my old ball joints and tie rod ends.
I have to say that after looking at everything, reading all the paperwork and instructions that come with it I am glad I did it. The quality of the crossmember is amazing. The welds are so nice it kind of sucks that they will be covered in paint and down low enough that they will never be seen. I for one am thrilled that I went this route. I can't wait to get it all done and completely mocked up with all the suspension in place. Pretty soon the car is going on a rottiserie to clean up the underside and paint the bottom of the car so it will be a while before I get to tell you how the car rides or handles!
thats awesome tha looks awesome i know what umean abouy not being able to see it after everything is put together
Money+time I'll need a new roof for the house soon and also a new furnace so these have to be done first. the Mav will have to wait a little
