I figured I'd go with this idea being that i already have the distributor...one less thing i have to buy for the motor

the tfi distributor doesnt have any mechancial or vacuum advance in it. all that was controled by the fuel injection computer. you can use the tfi dizzy with some sort of programable ignition like an msd, but it just would not be cost effective.

All you need to do is put the adaptor, cap and rotor on your duraspark distributor, then just change the wires to match the TFI coil in place of your round coil. Simple as that, this works for both the V8 durasparks and the I6 durasparks.
The jeep guys have been doing this for years because AMC used the duraspark distributor setup untill 1986 in the CJ's when chrystler started buying them out. Here is a writeup to do it to a 4.2L jeep motor using a Ford 300 TFI setup and part numbers to match.

for all the stock parts for the distributor you want this stuff , the distributor stuff is for a 84 mustang the coil and wires are for an 88 mustang

    here is the distributor adaptor

Here is the distributor (with steel gear you can also get it in a cast gear)

i have a blaster 2 coil from my six I'm going to use so that wont be necessary......unless the MSD TFI coils work better than my blaster2 coil(canister type)

The TFI coil is comparable to the MSD blaster coil you have, usually this is just a cheap upgrade for people that have a duraspark II setup.
The bigger cap reduces the risk of arcing from one terminal to another when utilizing the high voltage systems and the TFI coil puts out similar power to your blaster coil.
So for someone with a duraspark II they could get similar power to your MSD ignition with maybe $20 bucks in junkyard parts. And if they wanted to upgrade to the MSD equivalent like the wires or ignition module it is an easy and fairly cheap improvement.
