A couple of years ago, I posted this thread. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=40251&highlight=bumper I have seen this go through 5 owners locally in the last 8 years or so. I am now the 6th owner in 8 years, but it's not quite in the same condition as the last time I saw it. BEFORE NOW They had just painted it and were working on the wet sanding and buffing. They took it out for a drive and a woman pulled out in front of them. They swerved left, doing the best they could to miss her - here are the results. The car is pretty much gone, atleast for my skills. The floor, a-pillar, and roof have moved - you might be able to tell in the pictures. The dash buckled, throwing the cluster out. Also, the drivetrain is sitting at angle, enough that it pushed the fan into the radiator and lower hose. This is really sad. This car reads 92XXX miles and I believe it. When I looked at it the first time back in 2002 or so, the owner told me he had bought it from a family who had it in storage since the early 80s. About the front bumper, the guy 2 owners back un-tucked the front bumper because he didn't like the way it looked. But, he left the back bumper tucked.
It's fixable...just probably not feasible to do so. Still lots of good solid cars out there that can be bought for decent money. Labor costs money and that car definitely needs lots of both.
Always, always, ALWAYS hit the offending vehicle. That way you'll know who's butt to stomp and maybe get a little insurance money. Did the bimbo even stop?
" A woman pulled out in front of (them)". Yeah, that pretty much says it all. Some people just don't deserve drivers' licenses, there are plenty of those morons around here. Chris
Yes, she stopped but didn't have insurance. I'm not sure how the previous owner handled all of that. Besides, I'm not sure that she could have left if she wanted to. I don't know what she was driving. I'll be using it for parts.....unfortunately.
