Power window conversion . . .

Here is what I have so far, now I gotta figure out how to mate the 2 together to make it work.

The teeth fit well

Lol I was just thinking about that earlier today myself so I was doing some research on it.

Thack wrote up an article in shorthorns many moons ago, from what I gather you cut off the old handle crank mechanisim and weld a plate to mount the taurus window motor to in that location. Mavdog actually has some images in his picture gallery (thanks for the pics) and it is pretty self explanitory

I just wish I could find a copy of the original writeup that Thack did...

That is my plan also since reading Tom's article in Shorthorns. Got my motors from Ebay and the project is on the "list"

What year Taurus do they come from? I just looked on Rock Auto, and they are the same as Explorers..1987-95 Taurus, 1995-2001 Explorer...and I just happen to still have one in my driveway... (the ones in the rear doors of the Explorer, are the same as the front doors of the Taurus)

If I recall correctly you Taurus motors and regulators prior to 96. Get rear ones as the tend to have less wear than the fronts.

This is on my list too! Mavdog's pics are very helpful. Some Expeditions from 97-02 might work too.

20 minutes, some tin snips, a screw driver, and 2 sockets and mine are out. I really feel for you guys that work at dealerships...they don't make this stuff easy to work on...
The Explorer ones are a little different, they have a removable gear.

Can I just use the bracket that this motor is attached to, would it fit?
