Ok so this is my first car and I going to replace the old fuse box with a newer one. I have a 92 Taurus so I thought it would be a good idea to use the fuse box in it. So I cut all the wires going into the fuse box in the Taurus and pulled it out with about 4" coming out the back of it. So what I wanted to know is can I just splice together the wires out of the back of my maverick fuse box with the little bit of wire sticking out the back of the Taurus fue box? Will that work? And if so do I have to line up each number from the old fuse box to the new one? Because for example the taurus fuse box has numbers 1-18 on the front of it. Or can I just put the wires on whatever slot I want in the new one? All the help I can get would be awesome!! :)

connecting the wires...I'm not a fan of...butt connectors...I use...weather-tite connectors...this way you can change wires around later if need be...:thumbs2:
you can use any # for the wires you like, just draw it up so you will know later for any troubleshooting that you may need to do. I have one of these...

Why are you wanting to switch it out? Are you going to be doing extensive modifications to your car? If you are not...I see no reason to change it out.

@craig yeah I do. I'm putting in a new sound system, as well as other modifications to the car :)
@frank thanks for all the effort of posting all of the links! And I like the idea of not using butt connectors! The only other question I have is I know that in the maverick their is a big thick yellow wire that is the main pawer line, but the Taurus fuse box has two big thick yellow wires? Do you happen to know which one is pwoer in? I'm really new to this so I don't know if its somthing that's common with newer cars or if the taurus is just odd. Like that. Thanks. Davon

That's the one I used. Its not weather tight and I think the instructions say to install it in the cabin. My car doesn't see much weather, and my immediate need was for under hood items (elect fan, elect choke & horn relay), so I installed it beside the battery. Rolled up the unused leads and stuck them behind the battery, out of sight, ready for future use.

Awesome! I really like that idea of just adding a second fuse box instof replacing my perfectly good fuse box that's in there now! So can I just run a new wire from the battery to my taurus fuse box then?
