I came across this car at the Bellmore NY Friday night train station car show. I don't know if this car has been on this site already because I haven't been on this site since March. If this hasn't been seen yet, let me know and I will take more pics, next time I see it. (I still have my Maverick, but it's on the back burner)
This is my NEW FAVORITE car I always loved the early trans am racing series, and wish they would bring it back.... I'm gonna high jack one of your pic's for a screen saver, and I really hope you sent Gene pic,s for the calender...
That car looks fun .............. :bananaman I took the liberty to add 'racing' into your thread title ............ wouldn't want to confuse this thread with the "other" shelby thread ......
I see you love that other thread as well. Thankfully the car in this thread exists and man its one cool car. My 2 fav race schemes are Gulf and Martini. Gulf wins out though.
I have to add. This is right at the top of my list of Mavs. Must be the center of attention at shows and cruise nights. Its beautifully done. Love the induction.
Thanks for the compliments guys........ Nah, my own creation.....I've always been a Mustang guy {still am}....I've owned a ton of them at one time or another including a '65 and '66 GT-350, Detamasso Pantera, an R Model replica which i used to race and an '82 ex Trans-Am Mustang that was breathed on by Tom Gloy....My most recent Mustang was a '66 Coupe Trans-Am replica built by Maeco Motorsports in California which i regretfully sold a little over a year ago {for some reason i had a hard-on for a C6 Z06 Corvette and needed the money}.......Well, i needed another car to replace the Mustang {my favorite car ever and i've owned a lot} and since i love building my own stuff when i have time i decided to build another Ford but not another Mustang.....I've always thought the Maverick was a beautiful design {at least the small bumper one's} and were light weight, something that's important when building a road race replica and you just don't see any done like this....Since this was to be just a weekend toy there were no restrictions as to what i could do with it and it is street legal, albeit very loud...I set out to build it as light as possible since i'm only running a little warmed over 289 and taking out weight is the same as adding horsepower...There is no power anything, no heater, no a/c, no sound deadening or carpeting, no undercoating, no mufflers, has plexi rear and side vent windows and i have a set of aluminum heads waiting to go on....I built it to sort of replicate what a Maverick in the '72 Trans-Am series might of looked like and also if me or anyone else in the future wanted to take it to the track and have some fun it would be built well enough to do so....... Mustang which i loved........ Ex '82 Trans-Am Mustang which i re-bodied with a body from Roush Racing... Maverick........
