I went down to Frank’s house today to give him a hand installing some of his new car parts. On our way to get some lunch a deer ran into me. I guess I was doing about 45 mph on the back country road when the deer came out of the trees about 10 feet, if that far, from the edge of the road. There was no need to stand on the brakes to try to stop, but I was on the brakes slowing down when the deer stuck its head in the roadway. It looks like the deer bumped its head on the headlight trim before it slammed into the fender. We didn’t see the deer on our way back home. I doubt the deer is worried about a few hairs getting pulled out by the roots by the side marker light, but I’m sure where ever it ran off to that its still nursing a bad headache to go along with possible a broke neck. The damage to the Mav doesn’t look too bad but I haven’t checked it out close yet. Frank and I had to loosen the fender bolts and move the fender off the door so it would open. Don’t know why the headlight got cocked the way it is. (The corner of the hood was already bent.) This is my 2nd fender bender, first one was back in ’73. What’s ironic about this is yesterday I spent the whole day doing body work getting ready for paint. Like they say…one step forward and two steps back. The first pic is my dog checking out the point of impact.

Yeah I'm glad there wasn't more damage than I got. 1/2 second difference it would been under the car or Frank would had a deer in his lap. We were lucky it bounced off the fender and not off my brand new windshield.

mojo- Gonna go with Grabber Blue w/silver stripe and Magnum 500's
Coolvettes- my dog was tic off, she’s thinks the Maverick is going to be hers one day

You were fortunate not to have alot more damage than that, especially with a Maverick.(y)

If I was driving a newer car we would have got to ride in a tow truck on the way back home. :yup:

I took the fender off today and found 2 dents in the headlight bucket, broken the plastic adjustment screw retainers and folded one of the ears on the bucket 45*

That is like my first Comet ... one week before getting paint, some 80 year old geezer backed into my drivers door and moved it in 6 inches.

Glad it didn't happen after paint. Count your blessings there.

Glad everything is going to be okay ... could have been much worse.

Same thing. I was getting ready to paint this car back in 1988. As I was pulling it into the garage, scraped the driver's door on the door frame. Dented the door pretty good. I painted it anyways and left the dent. You can sort of see it in this picture.
