You are talking about the regular maverick grill right? The 75 has the turn signals in the grill where as the 72 doesnt the 72 still has the turn signals in the lower valance area. Now if you have a 72 grabber or 72 LDO then they have the "sport lamps" in the grill that appear to be the same as the turn signals but they are just over glorified running lights with a cool switch on the dash
They will "fit"....but obvioulsy as stated they "look" different. The 1975 has lights in the grill....the 1972 does not (If it is a standard grill. Grabber grills would have lights in the grill, but they are NOT turn signals). If one puts a 1972 grill on a 1975 car....they would have NO front turn signal lamps. If they put a 1975 grill on a 1972....they they would end up with two sets of turn signal lamps on the front.
I have a 72 Maverick and I installed a 75 grill with clear lenses and I use them for running lamps. They come on with the key. Seems to have helped with people pulling out in front of me.
so if i put double contact sockets in sport lamps , plug them into my turn signal plugs i can run turn signals in the grill, thanks great info
Yeah you can do that, 71Gold did that and then he turned the original turn signal mounts in the valance into HID light mounts.
I did this, too. My sportlamps actually had double contacts and sockets for 1157 bulbs but only used one of the wires/elements. The unused wire was capped off from the factory. I removed the under-bumper lights and ran the wires up to the grill lights.
