Was down at the local Ford dealer looking at the new Stangs and couldn't believe that the orange color is "Grabber Orange". The same color as my Maverick. Or is it? Does anyone really know how close it is? It would be good to know when I go to paint the car. Thanks Kevin.

I think it has more Orange in it than the Original Grabber Orange ... the original was really more Yellow than Orange ...

I was wondering the same thing. I pulled mine up next to it but figured that it was different because it was faded. Is there any way to tell on the paint formula or who would have it?

I was at the Ford dealer picking up some trunk struts for our Mercury Mystiqe and one of the new orange Mustangs also caught my eye. I have to agree that the Mustang seemed a little more orange the the older Grabber Orange, Even accounting for 37 years of fade in the paint. Either way, it is still a nice color and a throwback to the 70's.

Figures they would reintroduce the 1970 color I'm using for my car ....... :(

Now all the little chevy airheads will think I just copied a new Mustang.

The old color may have a bit more yellow - but if you look at the deck lid that did not get the direct shot from the camera flash - it looks very close ..... :yup:

I had a 70 Mach-1 Mustang that was "orange" leaning more to the red.....the paint color might have been called Calypso Coral....

In pics, it looks red, but next to my girlfriend's (now wife) true red 67 coupe, you could see it was lighter. In direct sunlight, the orange came out alot more.

The "Grabber Orange" I found on a 1970 paint chip site looks more orange than Acornridgeman's Mustang example, and ALOT more orange than the painted Maverick parts in his pic....but again, it's hard to tell in pics with shading, flash, etc.

    Thanks guys!

Color shows up much yellower in my shop pictures from the flouresent lights and the camera flash. If you look at the deck lid and the door jams in the pic above, they will look darker, much more like the Mustang color. Here are a couple more pics. One is when I was mocking up the export brace and the other is a shot once the engine bay was painted with the final coats of Centari 30% black. Same picture basically with 2 very different shades of yellow/orange. All caused by lighting when the picture was taken.

I was hoping to have all the paint work finished before November, but that didn't happen. I'm at the mercy of temps to cold now to paint until April.

I just got my car painted last August in Grabber orange and I have to say that it's very colse to the new Stang. I have a pic of them side by side. I will try to find it and post it. Everyone is pretty much right on as far as the new 07' having the slightest bit more orange. The great thing is that now I have touch up paint!! (y)

    Later,
    Josh
