I'd say high 12s. The cam might be a tad big for non-ported heads, and a double pumper would probably help your ET.

one of my cars has a really close set up to yours... but of course has some differances
it has 3:55 gears and 1.60 exaust on the valves and the heads are just a bit ported, Holley 700 dp, 10 inch 2800 stall. I know you really can't compare car for car but sounds close.

Car runs in the 13.70 to 13.50s on BFG Drag Radials. Not that fast but fun to drive.

also don’t forget you can bench race all you want... and have theoretical answers, very close times with a g-tech, computer programs that give times… but when it all comes down to it… the only time that counts is down the track or with a 3 wheel testing thingy like motortend uses. Remember always better to see the glass half full then think the cars going to hall ass and it doesn’t.

I use to love it when I would go to the track and some guy would tell me that my car should be doing low 12’s and then they tell me that theres will run a 11’s easy. then when they take it out it runs a high 14’s. Hum? Bottom line take it out see what it does you’ll have fun and know a real time

    good luck
    :)

What is your MPH? Are the 1973s that much heavier?

My Maverick weighs about 3100 with me in it. Stock 5.0L short block, stock E7TE heads with some porting and GT40 valves, B303 cam w/1.7:1 rockers. Stealth intake with a Holley 650 DP. 3.70:1 gears. Nothing too fancy. I've got a stick tranny, but pulled a 13.06@106 with a 2.0 60' time. One of these days I can pull a better 60'.

I figured the gears and lower weight could bring him into the high 12s.

I know what you mean though MavMan, I get sick of hearing what cars *should* run instead of what they do.

Hey charlie--are the stock 87 up e7te heads better than the original 70's heads??? if so, that is a cheap power adder.

i noticed you were using them

went through this last sunday. Some guy asked me what the Turbo maverick would run, I laughed and told him "maybe a 14 flat." Ended up making a 20 foot run (detonation!! ), 60' was a 2.04, and coasted to a 12.99. I think it's got a 10 in it
