hello guys, i have a question for yall. i have a 70 maverick that i am building, very slow process. money and time, dont have much of either. anyway its a tube chassis now with narrowed 9" going to run 32" tall tires. i am not shure what kind of gear to go with. my motor is a 351w 60 over with trickflo high port heads. it has a 242-248 @50 duration hyd roller cam 600 lift. about 10.1 compression. victor jr intake with 750 dp carb. long tube headers. not shure what the car is going to weight, it is all metal everything, but the wheel tubs and floor pans they are aluminum. going to run a c4 trans with a 3500 stall on foot brake. i have no idea on how fast it will be.....thanks gary

its hard to figure out the correct gearing if you dont know the weight, horsepower and the max rpm of the motor. with out more info i would sugest starting with 4.10s, but expect to have to change them.

freind of mine says a motor very close to mine dyno at 500hp, i know it will turn 6500 rpm with out a issue.....i have a 351c in a full body 71 mustang and 444 gears and a 26" tall tire it ran 8.80 in 1/8 and only turned 4800 or so at the end of track. i was thinking the maverick would be faster, and lighter. so i was thinking maybe 500 plus gears but i dont know.

A 5.43 gear should get you out of the hole good!

you won't be able to run 1/4 mile unless you buzz the crap out of it! With the 5.14 in my 306 @ 2700lbs 29.5 tall tire going through @ 7200 RPM on the chip!

the 32" tall tire will make it higher geared but i dont know how much. i would like to turn about 6000 at the end of 1/8 track. give me a few rpm to play with.

My friend is running a 6.00 with 31" tire on his Mav but he's at 7500 at the trap.
