I plan on putting in a second fuse/relay box for things like radio, amp, headlights. It will have a hotwire either off the battery or off an acc wire from the ignition. I am leaning toward the battery.

Welcome aboard. I see you are in Michigan.

You are in luck. The Maverick Comet Club International, Inc. (MCCI) will be holding their 19th Annual Roundup Nationals in Dearborn, Michigan this July 24-29. You will see lots and lots of Mavericks and Comets. You will have to plan and attend. More details can be found at www.MaverickCometClub.org

Bring the car there and we will help wire up your radio.

I don't live in the Lower part of MI... I'm from the upper part... I would love to go to the roundup nationals but I can't make it down there with my car. I still have no idea what any of you guys are talking about... If you could explain it some more to where like someone who doesnt know anything about cars would understand that would be great!!!

Your post is a little confusing. Are you wanting to leave the stock radio in the car and install an aftermarket stereo?

If you want the stock radio alone it is pretty simple as long as the factory wiring is intact. I think there are 2 connectors, one for the speaker and the other for power and light.

If you are wanting an aftermarket stereo then you will need to run new speaker wires to each speaker location as well as connect a constant power wire, key on power wire and ground.

I want to put an aftermarket stereo in... I know where and how to mount it... I have the wires or the new speakers and everything else i need. I just don't know how to match up the colors of the wires in my car to the one on the aftermarket stereo.

I didn't use any of the factory wiring with my aftermarket stereo. There is only one wire that is really usable and that is the key on power.

Then what did you hook the aftermarket stereo wires to. And what color is the key wire?

Go battery ----relay----power wire on radio.
Ground wire of the radio to chassis ground
Ignition on power wire(original radio power wire?)----trigger side relay
