I'm going to look at a 70 grabber tomorrow (Friday). Anything in particular to pay attention to? I know the floors are shot, but it runs and he has all the grabber parts with it (spoilers and extensions), he seems to know his mavericks: has the sport mirrors, blacked out rear section, spoilers and so on.

Are replacement floors, trunk, and body panels available or would they have to be salvaged from a donor car?

I am hoping it's not a total pile of crap. The guy is retired and has tons of projects (too many as he named off 6 other cars from Torinos to Belvideres and lincolns) so he is unloading the mavericks (70 grabber and 74 or 76 standard coupe). He planned on taking the 5 lug parts from the newer one to put on the grabber, and has a complete V-8 swap setup that can go with the car for the right price.

So what's the bad stuff to look for (floors and cowels) and obviously shock towers and frame. The car is running and driving with a 250 6-cyl and probably drums all around.

Thanks for the read, sorry so long.

sounds like you know what you're looking for. just be sure the VIN has a '93' in the third and fourth digits to verify it's a Grabber. a bucket of water helps to check the cowls ;) floor, quarters & such have to be salvaged from donor cars so be sure to pay close attention to the body and frame rails. good luck and keep us posted! We'll see tomorrow, it's been many years since I owned a Mav.

First car was a 71 with a 200. Put a grabber hood on it for 15 bucks (1986 prices, wish I had my stuff back now).

    2nd was a 69.5 with a built 302

3rd was my grandmothers old 72 grabber, had a lot of rust and I was stupid and sold it. Yellow with the orange stripes and inserts.

I was ready to sell my soul to get John Fasig's 72, but he decided to keep it and save me from another divorce.

    Oh well, time and money.

Anyone got some spare time and money I could "borrow"???

My '70 Grabber does not have the '93' in the VIN. According to Craig, he is the keeper of '70 Grabber registry, that it wasn't until '71 before they put the '93' in the vin. Go to his website and there is a lot of stuff on the '70 Grabber. The '70 was a low build becuse it only lasted a few months. Good luck on your negotiatons.

i was also going to mention the 70 did not have the 93 in the vin. also to be safe i'd take a gallon jug of water and pour it into the cowel and see if it drains outside or into the floor. also look underneath and check the torque boxes. good luck.:)
