Hi, I'm really excited about finding this group. I haven't been in the loop on-line for awhile. Last time I looked for a Maverick group on line I found Fordmaverick.com but the site was just under construction at the time(long time ago)now finally I got a decent working PC. And I find this place first try on Google!! The story on my car is funny, I found her at a yard sale sitting under a Pine tree looking so depressed. At the time I didn't even know what a Ford Maverick was! I was driving a 1973 Plymouth Scamp at the time(I've since repented!) The owner had bought the car from his next door neighbor as a favor to her son. She was being placed in a nursing home, and was the original owner. So he bought it to give to his son as a present. But, the son hated it, and never drove it. So, it sat under a Pine tree for over 10 years! I asked if he would sell it, and he told me $750 would take it. I countered with $500 cash and have it removed the same day on my mechanic's flat bed, and he went for the deal! I've been a Maverick Fan ever since, and I'm hoping that this forum will help me find the information and parts I need down the road. Erik
Welcome Welcome, some people just do know any better. If my dad gave me my first car for free, I would not care what it was. I got my first car at a discount but I still had to give him half of what I earned for that summer. I'm sure the car cost more than that but I thought for sure he was just playing. He didn't give my money back to me to this day. If he gives it back that I'm surely keeping it...lol
to the board. I hope the pine tree hasnt done what they usually do and stopped up your cowl vents. Good luck on the restore. Tim
no I was lucky with that, the car was covered, but it had sat for sooo long that the brake lines were completely rotted and the e brake was gone too. So that was the first thing that got fixed. Right now, I have to wait for warmer weather, I'm in Upstate NY, and the weather has been strange all winter. The car is currently stripped on the inside, I'm redoing the floor boards, then doing the carpetting, but I'd like to find black bucket seats for it, my original bench seat is all torn up, and not worth salvaging. the roof upholstery is still mint though.
Howdy and I think a 73 Scamp is a pretty cool car too. Good luck on your restoration / restomod. Are you into German WWll planes?
Blue Oyster Cult German Planes, and more importantly the excellent song by BLUE OYSTER CULT with the same name. Which can be found on side 2 of their 3rd LP titled SECRET TREATIES. Their best LP of all time. Even better than Agents of Fortune, with Don't Fear the Reaper.
pics I gotta find the right cd! I bought a new house and a new PC, I can't find my old files, but I'm working on it. It is top priority. The shots you will see are definitely gonna be the "Before" shots, I got plenty of them! LOL I haven't been here week and I'm getting more help with my car then I ever did on eGay!!! Thanks to everyone, whose emailed me!!! I can't wait to get started on this project.
